Sylvester "Smitty" Smith (1934-2011)

Sylvester Francis “Smitty” Smith, 77, passed away peacefully at home on Nov. 9, 2011.
He was born in Okarche, OK on Mar. 12, 1934 to Anton "Tony" and Marie (Wittrock) Smith.
He graduated from Holy Trinity HS and joined the US Army shortly thereafter serving during 1954-1956. He spent one year in Korea along the Demilitarized Zone as a communications lineman.
After discharge, he moved to Wichita, KS working for Boeing Aircraft. In 1958, he accepted a job with H.J. Jefferies Truck Line in OKC, as an owner/operator, hauling oil field and construction equipment throughout the US and Canada. From 1978-2010, he worked for Oklahoma City Freightliner in truck sales.
He enjoyed boating, playing poker and other games of chance.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Agnes Carole Emmerich; daughter, Brandy Sue Smith of Las Vegas; son, Wm.”Bill” J. Smith of Yukon; brother, Gerald Smith and wife Millie of Marienthal, KS; sister, Alice Stroud and husband Bud of Okarche, OK; mother-in-law, Agnes C. Emmerich of Okarche; 9 nieces and 4 nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son Steve, sister Dottie Ketterer, nephew Mike Stroud, and favorite aunt, Kate Smith.
A reception for family and friends will be Thursday from 6:30-8:30pm at Mercer-Adams. Services will be Friday, Nov. 18, 10:30am at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 5024 N. Grove, OKC. Private burial. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Good Shepherd Hospice or St. Jude’s Hospital.

Steve Anthony Smith, 38 of Las Vegas, NV, grandson of Okarche resident, Agnes C. Emmerich, died March 15, 1999 at his home.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Sat., April 17 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in OKC.
He was born Aug. 18, 1960 in OKC to S.F. "Smitty" and Agnes C. Emmerich Smith.
He was a 1980 graduate of Western Heights School in OKC.
Survivors include his parents, grandmother, one sister, Brandy Sue Smith of Las Vegas and one brother, Bill Smith of OKC.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John Emmerich of Kingfisher, Anton "Tony" and Marie Smith of Okarche.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Horizon Hospice Care, Inc., 2920 S. Rainbow, Ste 140, Las Vegas, NV 89102.

A 2-year-old Midwest City boy was Killed when a car backed over him in front to 308 W Kerr Drive....
KENNETH KREMER CORNWELL, 2, of 305 W Kerr Dr....
The child, son of Dorothy Cornwell, died when the wheels of a car driven by Mrs. Mary Louise Campbell, 32, of 308 W Kerr Dr., passed over his body.
Sgt. Frank Brady, Midwest City police, said the boy suffered injuries on the left side, the face and head.
Brady said the death was only the second resulting from an automobile accident since Midwest City's incorporation.

Services are pending at Midwest City Funeral Home for Kenneth Kremer Cornwell III, two-year-old son of Mrs. Dorothy Cornwell, of 305 W Kerr, who died Saturday.
Survivors include three sisters, Louis, Karen, and Jean, all of the home; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Cornwell sr., Baltimore, Md.; maternal grandfather, Tony Smith, Olancha, Cal.

Rosary will be at 8 p.m. Tuesday in Midwest City Funeral Home for Kenneth R. Cornwell III, 2 year-old son of Mrs. Dorothy Cornwell, 305 W Kerr, who died Saturday. Requiem mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Holy Trinity Catholic Church at Okarche. Burial will be in Okarche Cemetery.

Margie Lou Wittrock, 84, of Okarche died Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2012, at her home.
A wake service was held Friday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial was set for 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Monsignor Edward Weisenburger and Deacon Max Schwarz officiating. Arrangements are under direction of Sanders Funeral Service in Kingfisher.
She was born Nov. 17, 1927, in Kingfisher to Felta and Zeta [nee] Snethen [Yost].
She graduated from Kingfisher High School in 1944. She attended OCW in Chickasha for one year, then Oklahoma Agricultural and Mechanical College in Stillwater.
She married Herbert J. Wittrock on Oct. 21, 1947. He preceded her in death on May 17, 1980.
She was employed as a deputy county treasurer.
She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Holy Trinity Altar Society, Happy Homemakers and Catholic Daughters of America.
Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Copeland and husband Jerry of Kingfisher and Jane M. Wittrock of El Reno; one son, David J. Wittrock and wife Debra of Okarche; four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband.
